Three Takes on Success!

His elder brother was in the company of the people who were into some or the other business. He joined the same people. His friends were also into a business of their own.

"A man is known by the company he keeps."

Being in proximity with business minded people inspired him to choose the path of starting his own business. The man I am talking about is Ludhiana based businessman Mr. Ravinder Kumar Shukla. He is the owner of two firms. One is Misha Dyes and Chemicals and the second is Chemico-De-Industries. His annual turnover for the first firm is around Rs. 20 Crores and for the second one is about Rs.8-10 Crores. He owes his success to the grace and blessings of God along with three other important factors. The first factor is the HARD- WORK combined with right direction and right approach. Second is the SINCERITY and seriousness involved towards the work. The third and the most important fact that plays a crucial role in making a person successful is his HONESTY towards business and business associates.

In my interview with this gentleman who started his business in 1987 I came across his strength i.e. having a CLEAR FOCUS about what he wanted which has made him what he is today. He gives a lot of credit to banking facilities which helped him in expanding his business. He had a sale of Rs.40 Lakhs when he started and has come a long way since then.

According to him"If you loose focus you loose everything."

If a businessman doesn't know the prevailing market conditions, market trends, amount of purchase and sale of goods he is dealing in he can never ever be successful. Plate full of food lying in front of a person cannot pacify his hunger unless he makes an effort to put the food in his mouth. Similar is the case with business. A businessman needs to be vigilant enough to analyse and interpret the market conditions and use them accordingly for his business. The present world is highly competitive, full of fluctuations and negative trends in the market. The only way to make it big is to inculcate the inputs of high quality products, resource management, time management, complete knowledge of the market etc. The present date competition follows the rule of " Survival of the fittest" and every person needs to work in accordance with it to achieve success.

At the end of this interview I drew this conclusion that-

"Hard work is the only key to success and there is no short cut to it."

  1. yes i agree that hard work is the only key to success....but you have not clearly mentioned the ups and downs faced by him....according to your article, his sale was 40 lacs when he started the business and easily expanded his business with the help of banking facilities...it means that his success is very easily driven not by hard work

  2. in the interview he told me that with his hard work he managed a sale of 40 lakhs in the starting period. In a five minute 40 second interview he did not discuss much about his ups and downs as he did not face much but he told me the main factor responsible for his success.

  15. HARDWORKING plays a role only for the first time when you start a new business. Only hardworking can do nothing if there is no proper guidance, sufficient knowledge, where to buy or where to sell. Most of the new businesses established from parental, relatives, or friends. Other person will not guide you for any business. If you select right business, right direction, then hardworking plays a very little role.

SINCERITY and HONESTY are far behind in this period of time. Now a days, you should be practical, sharp minded, you should know where your business can grow, find the people who can push your business to new highs. A businessman can't be honest, he is having 100 types of lies in his daily routine. He can't tell you the actual margin, he got from buyer.

The name Mr. Ravinder Kumar Shukla is now established, who has spent 22 years in his business. I think, any kind of business took 3 years decisively, whether it can grow or down. One should not give any credit to bank. Banks are also having business. They also look good customers for their interest.

Aditi, your article doesn't attract me, as I would rather like to read the story before 1987 that what kind of hardworking he has done.

if a plate full of food lying in the front of a person, he does not need hard working, he only needs working to put the food in his mouth.
